- Why should I buy a Hydraulic Rotary Drill over having someone commercially drill my well with a larger rig?
- Many large rig operators will be quick to tell you that you can't accomplish drilling wells with portable drilling rigs. However, many of our customers from around the world have successfully drilled water wells using our Hydraulic Rigs. Commercially drilled wells can cost a lot of money depending on your area, and in some cases purchasing an HR110 or and HRP110 is cheaper than paying someone else to do it. Another factor when choosing a rig is how confined the location will be. Because our units are small, they can drill in places that large rigs cannot access.
- Is it difficult or complicated to drill water wells or other boreholes?
- With the Hydraulic Rotary Drills, drilling is a simple and straight-forward operation. We provide a detailed manual with every unit and help is available through our support department should you require it.
- What size is the drill steel? Can I order it directly from Mid-Western Machinery?
- The drill steel is 1 3/4" OD 744 thread drill steel. You can order directly from us or from one of our distributors. Contact us and let us know your location and we can help you find the best source for drill steel.
- How far down can the HR Drills drill?
- This answer depends greatly on the type of ground that you are drilling. The machine has been rated to drill a 6" hole to 200 feet. Most water bearing strata can be found above 150 feet. If you're concerned with drilling depth, contact someone in our sales department and let them know your concerns.
- Is a Hydraulic Rotary Drill the only thing I will need to drill a well?
- The machine itself is only one piece of the puzzle when preparing to drill a water well. Drill bits, drill steel, tools and other items are needed. You can check out our packages which detail the items that will provide a good foundation. Talk with our sales department and let us help you put together a plan for your drilling needs.
- Do you sell well casing? Is this needed for a water well?
- Well casing is needed to provide a clean and drinkable water supply. PVC pipe is adequate to use as well casing and is available from many sources locally for less money than what we could ship. For this reason we do not offer well casing and encourage our customers to find the cheapest source locally.
